SiC is a ceramic with strong covalent bonding and has a hardness that exceeds that of alumina. It is particularly excellent in high-temperature strength and also has superior corrosion resistance.
Due to its high hardness, it also possesses strong resistance to sliding wear. Its thermal conductivity is also high.
